Police Temporarily Seals Off Kwankwaso’s Residence

Heavy-armed police officers on Tuesday sealed off the residence of former Governor of Kano state, the incumbent Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso. The house, located at Lugard Road is a few minutes-drive away from the Kano government house.

According to the police, Kwankwaso’s residence which co-incidentaly serves as the headquarters of Kwankwasiyya movement was sealed up over a supposed plan by the x-governor to conduct a mass wedding at the premises.

Police public relations officer Magaji Majia, said the police did not grant any permit for a mass wedding to hold at the venue, and so it was shutdown by officers.

Kwankwaso was elected as the governor of the northern Nigerian state of Kano between 1999 and 2003, under the flag of the People’s Democratic Party. In 2015 he was among five PDP governors who defected to the All Progressives Congress. Later Kwankwaso contested the APC presidential primaries but lost to Muhammadu Buhari.

The police later on the same day vacated the premises which was sealed off.
