Mark Zuckerberg in Lagos, Launches  Express Wifi

Founder of number one social network site in the  world, Mark Zuckerberg is currently in Lagos for the Facebook for Developers Workshop for Nigerian engineers, product managers and partners. The programme is slated for today, Wednesday, August 31.

This is the first time Zuckerberg will be visiting Sub-Saharan Africa. Zuckerberg met a lot of people at the Co-creation Hub in Yaba, Lagos. After he met with some startups within the hub, he also met with kids who were learning at a coding camp, he said excitedly on his Facebook page: “Our first stop is the Co-creation Hub Nigeria (CcHUB) in Yaba. I got to talk to kids at a summer coding camp and entrepreneurs who come to CcHub to build and launch their apps. I’m looking forward to meeting more people here!”

Zuckerberg will also launch a cheap internet service called Expresswifi in Lagos, the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria.

ExpressWifi is a new program that allows all internet users to purchase a data from a local service providers at a very cheap rate. Though this is not the first time Facebook will be doing this, it has already be launched in India.

Facebook will be partnering with an Isp and integrator company known as CoolLink based in Abuja, Lagos, kano and Port Harcourt to achieve this.
Having said that, the service is set to launch officially in Lagos in few days, however, it has started operation in some part of Lagos such as the Ikota shopping complex at Lekki.
