Goodluck Jonathan Stole the Show at Council of State Meeting

Nigeria’s former president, Goodluck Jonathan attended the National Council of State meeting today, September 7. The meeting which held in the presidential villa, Abuja, was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Others in attendance were former Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar and former Head of the Interim National Government Chief Ernest Shonekan, five past Chief Justices of the Federation, state governors and some of their deputies.gej-at-council-of-state-meeting

However, Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida, General Yakubu Gowon and Shehu Shagari were absent at the meeting. This is the first meeting of Council of State to be attended by Jonathan since Buhari became president.

A mild drama was said to have played out as Jonathan stole the show for about a minute. The cameramen and photographers focused on Jonathan for about one minute, leaving Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, governors and other officials in attendance standing. Nigerians have taken to social media to react to the meeting and how Jonathan was the centre of attention for a minute.
