Mrs Emefiele however regained her freedom by Saturday morning, according to official police report. It is not clear as at press time if any ransom was paid to secure her release.  Her abductors had demanded N1.5 billion for her release.

Security experts described the abduction as an embarrassment, noting that something must have gone wrong. A former director of the State Security Services, Mike Ejiofor , stated that as a politically exposed person,  Margret must have had security operatives attached to her. He wondered where the personel were at the time she was abducted.

Until these details come to light, it may be difficult to ascertain what really took place at the Benin-Agbor road during her abduction.

Sahara Reporters say four other women and a driver were kidnapped along with Mrs. Emefiele. The abductors have since made contact with the family, demanding a N100 million ransom.

The source declined to disclose those with the wife of the Governor (Godwin Emefiele).
