11 Shiite Members Killed During Clash with Police

5 people have been reported dead in a clash between Shi’ites group and security agents in Funtua town, Katsina state.

According to reports, the clash started when the Islamic group members this morning embarked on Ashura procession marked by Shi’ites worldwide. The Katsina state police command had previously warned against unlawful processions in the state and attempted to stop them from the one they organized today when the clash started.

Four members of the sect also died in Kaduna with an additional two people losing their lives in Sokoto. Bringing the total number killed in the clash to 11. Also, several vehicles were burnt during the incident.shia-1

The mob also demolished the Shiite’s Islamic school in the area.
This is coming at a time when the security forces have clampdown on the activities of the group and banned them from embarking on their planned annual procession.
