Stop Complaining and Fix the Country- Obasanjo Tells Buhari

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has attacked President Muhammadu Buhari for dwelling too much on the past and failing to turn around the fortunes of the country. He also accused the National Assembly of using ‘so-called constituency projects’ as an avenue for corruption.

According to him, members of the National Assembly pay themselves allowances for staff and offices they do not have or maintain.

Obasanjo made this known while delivering the keynote address at the First Akintola Williams Annual Lecture in Lagos on Wednesday, November 23, Obasanjo lashed at the Buhari administration for accusing all previous administrations of mis-governance.
Obasanjo said it was becoming tiring to hear the complaints of the Buhari administration when it was voted in to change the mistakes of the past. Obasanjo also saod the president does not need the $30billion foreign loan to turn Nigeria’s economic fortunes around.

He advised that since Buhari was elected to change the country, he should concentrate on clearing the mess he inherited.

The former president used to be a staunch supporter of President Buhari but all that seems to have changed. The former president did not spare the National Assembly which he says stinks to high heavens of corruption and the Nigerian military, which he said needed to be purged.
After news of Obasanjo’s comments reached the National Assembly, members of the House of Representatives lashed out on the former President, branding him as the most corrupt president ever to preside over the Federal Republic.
