President Swears in 6 INEC Commissioners

President Muhammadu Buhari Yesterday, December 7, swore in the 6 newly-appointed Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), one for each geo political zone.

The swearing-in was conducted inside the Council chamber of the State House Presidential Villa, Abuja and was carried out just before the commencement of the meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

The six new commissioners are:

Ogunmola Ladipo

  1. May Agbamuche
  2. Abubakar Nahuche
  3. Okechukwu Ibianu.
  4. Mohammed Haruna
  5. Ahmad Muazu.

President Buhari noted that the new INEC commissioners were people of integrity in whom he was confident that they will come to bear in the discharge of their responsibilities.

INEC is set to conduct re-run elections in Rivers state amid complaints from opposition Peoples Democratic Party that the commission is being used by the ruling All Progressives Congress to rig the elections.

The opposition party also claimed that the life of River state governor Nyesome Wike is also being threatened because of the elections.
