The romance between Atiku and Ibori is believed to be connected with the 2019 presidential election.

It would be recalled that Alhaji Atiku and Chief Ibori with the backing of other governors confronted former President Olusegun Obasanjo to step down for him (Turakin) to pick the presidential ticket on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Obasanjo had promised that if he is allowed to run for second tenure, he would back Atiku to become President of Nigeria in 2007.

Atiku agreed but with months to the expiration of Obasanjo’s tenure, the issue of third term agenda surfaced and Atiku and governors loyal to him vehemently opposed it.
