Senate President Dumps APC for PDP

After weeks of political permutations, expectations and defections, Bukola Saraki, Nigeria’s senate president has finally decamped from the ruling All Progressives party (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and this particular defection has brought about mixed reactions from Nigerians.

Interestingly, the reactions that followed Saraki’s exit from the APC ranged from outright jubilation from some sections of Nigerians to ironic acceptance by another section.

Nigerians who hailed the senate president’s decision to jump ship claimed the APC led federal government has failed Nigerians and as such, deserved to be abandoned by a politician of Saraki’s calibre.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) welcomed the Senate president, and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed who also defected back to the party.

The duo announced their exit from the ruling party, All Progressive Congress(APC), on Tuesday.

While Ahmed said he was returning to the PDP, which he dumped prior the 2015 general elections, Saraki did not state if he is returning to the PDP.
