Sonala Olumhense
A seat at the Nigerian Senate.
Sonala Olumhense’s career in journalism began in 1979 at The Punch in Lagos, Nigeria, where he became Acting Editor in 1981.
He joined the foundation staff of The Guardian in 1983 as a Member of the Editorial Board; he also served as Ombudsman as well as Editorial Page Editor/Chairman of the Editorial Board. He left in 1986 to become the founding editor of the defunct ThisWeek Newsmagazine. Since 1994, he has worked at the United Nations, where he has extensive experience of several departments and agencies. He hails from Igueben, Edo State.
