Sunday Mba scored a sensational winning goal, as the Super Eagles of Nigeria, defeated Burkina Faso 1-0 to win the 2013 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations. The victory ended a 19-year wait for the continental trophy and Stephen Keshi became only the second man, to win the trophy as a player and as a coach.
Nigeria dominated early proceedings, but could not take their chances until five minutes before the break. Sunday Mba picked up a loose ball, juggled it over a defender’s head with his right foot and finished past a static goalkeeper with his left.
The Super Eagles went on to miss a host of other chances, even as Burkina Faso tried to fight back. But in the end, Nigeria had enough to claim their third Africa Cup of Nations trophy.
Nigeria first lifted the trophy in 1980 and a second time in 1994.
